What Is an Intention Candle and How Do You Use One?

An intention candle is a candle you light with a clear purpose in mind. That purpose might be protecting your peace, welcoming abundance, asking for clarity, or simply creating a calmer moment in your day. The candle doesn’t do the living for you. It gives your thoughts, words, and next steps somewhere to gather.

You don’t need an elaborate setup. Start by deciding what you want to focus on. Write it in one clear sentence, place the candle on a stable heat-safe surface, and light it when you have a few quiet minutes. You can journal, pray, repeat an affirmation, sit in silence, or make a practical plan while it burns.

Try to keep your intention focused on what you want to welcome or strengthen in your own life. Instead of concentrating on controlling another person, bring the attention back to your boundaries, choices, and desired outcome. That keeps the practice grounded and personal.

Always follow the candle’s safety directions, keep it within sight, and extinguish it before leaving the room. The magic is not in making things complicated. It’s in choosing your direction, showing up for it, and letting the candle mark the moment.
